This four-week unit ties the known realm of a child’s own family structure to the discovery of how other families may differ in size and shape and varying in members. Whether their family has one parent, two parents, step parents, or consists of blended families, the child will learn that their own family is a precious gift from God to love and care for each other.
From beaches and sea life, to Chinese culture and cooking in Africa, the topics in this unit lend themselves well to many tactile, sensory, and large and small motor skills. Children will also continue to learn skills in letter and sound recognition and story-telling, as well as gain knowledge in natural science, and world cultures.
