With Christmas just around the corner, this unit includes stories that highlight the season’s joyous traditions of Christmas pageants, Christmas carols, Christmas trees, and especially Christmas gifts. While tenderly explaining that some people may have a reason to be sad during the festive season, we learn that gifts may come in unexpected ways, and we give best when we give of ourselves as Jesus did when He gave us the best gift of all.
A wide range of crafts for this unit not only encourages development of fine motor skills and creativity, but also provides students with gifts for the birds, for elderly or shut-ins, and for their parents and grandparents. It’s a great time for children to begin learning about the joy of giving whether it is something they make or a gift of service.
